Your orange engine light (check engine) has come on, and you don't know whether to keep driving or pull over. We explain what it means and, most importantly, what NOT to do.
What does the engine light mean?
Indicates that the ECU has detected an engine or emissions fault. This can range from something minor (a sensor, a poorly closed fuel cap) to something serious (a combustion fault damaging the catalytic converter).
Solid vs flashing
If it's steady, you can drive carefully to the workshop. If it's flashing, there's an active misfire: stop and don't force it, or you'll damage the catalytic converter.
What NOT to do
Don't "clear the error" without diagnosing it (it'll just come back). Don't ignore it for weeks. Don't trust cheap readers that only give a code without context. It needs a real diagnosis.
Is your check engine light on?
We diagnose and fix it for you at Zamule Cars Palma. No appointment needed, 12-month warranty, any make.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep driving?
If it's steady and the car drives normally, yes, you can drive to the workshop. If it's flashing or losing power, no.
Why does it come back after deleting it?
Because the cause is still there. You need to diagnose, not just clear codes.
How much does diagnosis cost?
From 49EUR, and it's discounted if you repair with us.
