Mercedes is reliable, but it has very specific weak points depending on the engine and model. These are the 5 we repair most often at Zamule - and how we professionally resolve them.
1. Oil leaks from the valve cover and seals
Many Mercedes engines (M271, M272, OM651) leak oil from gaskets and seals over the years. If you leave it, it stains the belt, smells burnt, and the oil level drops.
We fix it by replacing gaskets with OEM parts and cleaning the engine to ensure the leak is 100% sealed.
2. Timing chain and tensioner (M271, M272)
The tensioner and balance shaft sprockets can cause issues in some engines. You'll notice a metallic noise when cold, and in severe cases, a synchronisation failure.
We measure the stretch and replace the complete kit before anything expensive breaks.
3. Glow plug control unit (diesel)
In OM diesel engines, if the glow plug module fails and the warning light comes on. We diagnose it with our equipment and only replace what's necessary.
4. Turbo and EGR clogged with carbon
Carbon buildup in EGR and intake = loss of power and smoke. Decarbonization + cleaning solves most issues without needing to open the engine.
5. 7G-Tronic Gearbox without maintenance
Your automatic gearbox needs an oil and filter change. Many people don't do it, and the gearbox starts to jerk. We use specific ATF oil for this.
