P2463 Code: Saturated DPF particle filter - Complete guide
The code P2463 indicates that your vehicle's diesel particulate filter (DPF) is saturated with soot and cannot regenerate properly. This is a very common problem in diesel cars that mainly drive in the city.
What is the particulate filter?
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is an exhaust system component that traps soot particles produced by diesel combustion. Periodically, the car performs a 'regeneration' by burning this soot at high temperatures. When this regeneration repeatedly fails, the filter becomes saturated, and the P2463 code appears.
Why does the DPF get clogged?
The main causes are: exclusively urban driving (short trips that don't allow regeneration), inadequate engine oil (must be Low SAPS/low ash), faulty injectors that generate excessive soot, a defective EGR valve, a faulty differential pressure sensor, a turbo with play that allows oil to pass through, or accumulation due to high mileage without maintenance.
Symptoms of a clogged DPF
DPF warning light on (exhaust icon), significant loss of power, emergency mode activated (limp mode), increased fuel consumption, excessive white or black smoke, strong diesel smell from the exhaust, and frequent failed regenerations.
Can I remove it?
The DPF removal is illegal in Spain and means failing the ITV. At Zamule Cars, we offer legal solutions: professional DPF cleaning using ultrasound or specific additives, forced regeneration with diagnostic equipment, and filter replacement if it's beyond repair.
