Manufacturers program the ECU with conservative margins to comply with global emission regulations and warranties.<\/p>\n<p>Remapping updates or modifies that software to adapt it to a specific situation.<\/p>\n\n<h2>When does it make sense to remap your ECU?<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Manufacturer's software update<\/h3>\n<p>Manufacturers release software updates for years after a car is made. These can fix misfires, fuel consumption issues, automatic transmission behaviour, or start-stop system errors. It's the most common and safest type of remapping.<\/p>\n\n<h3>2. Adaptation after major repair<\/h3>\n<p>Mass air flow sensor replacement, new injectors, turbo repair - in many modern engines, the ECU needs to be relearned or updated after these parts are changed. Without reprogramming, the engine won't perform at its best.<\/p>\n\n<h3>3. Stage 1 (legal optimization)<\/h3>\n<p>Adjustment of parameters within the engine's safety margins to improve response and power.
